History of Lucy

Lucy was built by Shasta Travel Trailers in 1963 at their Van Nuys, CA Plant.  Lucy was one of Sylvia’s collection and holds a special place in her heart.  Unfamiliar with vintage campers she was sitting in her home office one morning when a truck pulling a turquoise & white 1963 Shasta passed by which immediately got her attention.  It was not for sale, but a quest for one like it soon began!  In 2005 she found Lucy for sale on Ebay in Olympia, WA but the reserve price was more than Sylvia had to spend.  It did not sell however so she called the owner and after a visit about the trailer the owner decided she should have it and offered it to her at the price she could afford!  Next problem was getting it from Olympia to Colorado... Fortunately  Sylvia’s brother lives in the NW and was able to go purchase it and store (as well as use and enjoy) it until the fall when Sylvia was finally able to go pick up her baby.   Incidentally, the first trailer she spotted is still in our hometown of Erie, CO and is a virtual twin to Lucy.

Lucy had been previously restored by her former owner, about all we have done to her since adding her to the Starlite fleet is new upholstery and adding the special “Madison County” floor.
